Thread starter tracker12 Start date Aug 11, Joined Jan 29, Messages I have always used a cheap tripod with my Swaro spotter but am thinking of upgrading this year.
The outdoorsman has caught my eye. Thoughts from guys that have used them would be appreciated. Honestly I think your money is better spent on other tripods. They are well built and will last a lifetime but there are many other options out there that get the job done just as well at a fraction of the cost. Their tripod heads on the other hand are worth every penny Ace of Spades Member. There is a whole market out there for DSLR cameras, I'm sure there are probably better deals and products..
I use a SLIK aluminum tripod for videoing on backcountry hunts as well as taking pictures. Joined Jan 21, Messages 2, Location Utah. While I have no experience with the Outdoorsmans tripods, I tend to agree with the above posts. I think for less money you can get a solid tripod that weighs less and has a taller max height.
I also think if you are going to spend that much money the Promaster XC is a better option. Nothing against the Outdoorsmans, I have their Binocular adapter and know they make high quality gear. I just feel for the money you can do better on tripods specifically. One thing to remember is every single part of an outdoorsman tripod is covered under their warranty and avalible in there shop.
Joined Feb 26, Messages I debated this all year. I talked to dozens of folks and what I found is that there are very few people that can say that they have looked through a spotter in the wind with various tripods under them.
I found a couple of people that have and they said if you are willing to part with the money, there is nothing better. I purchased a compact medium tripod and quick release panner and pistol grip head for my swaro x65 and just took delivery last week.
I set it up looking at some sheep at yards away last Sunday with a steady mile per hour wind coming at me from the 2 o'clock position and gusts pushing 25 and tripod all theway extended and the spotter didn't move at all. This is what I was after in performance. I have used cheap tripods for the most part up until when I borrowed a buddies outdorsmand and that is where I got hooked.
Thanks guys. Good stuff from current owners that have made the plunge. I tend to think there are probably a better choice for half the price.
It's just hard to see them in person. Shrek Senior Member. Carbon fiber has better dampening than aluminum. For the same weight and cost you can get a top of the line carbon fiber tripod. With the above stated with the wind very true I experience it a lot with the good o'l Wyoming wind.
I have had a few tripods over the years never the carbon fiber but will say after I bought the outdoorsmans I have never once regretted it. Money well invested!!! Wow I was hoping there would be a clear winner here but it doesn't look like it.
Guess I will look at other options before I decide. I've tried quite a few and now have the medium outdoorsman. One of the few pieces of gear that is not subject to scrutiny each year. It is pretty much perfect. Joined Feb 25, Messages 1, My buddy bought their tripod and pistol grip and I liked neither one. We were using same spotting scope swaro x80 side by side. Him on the above setup me with a Gitzo tripod with the outdoorsman pan head.
Mark was great to work with and everyone very friendly. Bought the truck, it was just what we were looking for. Very pleasant but communication wasn't, made an offer while others still tried to sell the truck. Thankfully the salesperson was honest in telling me about the true condition of the truck, I would have wasted a day going to finalize the deal.
They Lied in the add. It is called low balling the ad price was 34, Total a lie on the price. Bad Bad Bad Company.. Would give zero stars if I could. Manager bragged how much profit they were making, then wanted me to pay full price. Stay away. Horrible experience. Great dealer. True to their word. Overall great customer service from each employee.
On top of the customer service the car they sold me is great. Very reliable. The car is a gem. But the one they sold me I feel I got lucky with. Just have a little patience with them. Very trustworthy.
Very poor communication. We filled out the online application on Monday and Saturday morning we still had no answer on the status of the application despite 2 phone calls and 3 emails. When we finally spoke with someone they advised us that we were upside down on our current car and advised us not to trade it in with them said bye and hung up.
Very strange and poor business deal. I would highly recommend ALM the entire negotiating and buying experience was great. The dealer was a pleasure to work with and made this the best car buying experience I have had and I have purchased at least 20 vehicles in my life. I contacted the dealer during off hours and they contacted me the next day. I was considering a truck they had for sale but it ended up selling before I could set a time to see it.
Not their fault, just they way it is looking for a vehicle right now. My experience was otherwise good. Good follow up, did a video with me on the phone, car was in great condition as advertised.
